培养学生,塑造学生

近几年,大学毕业店里的形式和花样层出不穷,屡屡见诸于新闻。许多“江苏师范大学们”尊崇复古,把毕业典礼布置得像古代学堂;也有许多“吉林大学们”校长 的致辞十分新潮,各类网络词汇加之其中,赢得一片叫好。或许有人觉得这两种大学做法并不相同,可我认为本质却是一样,以毕业典礼上的花哨形式迎合当今潮 流。“江苏师范大学们”以复古迎合“尊重传统风”,“吉林大学们”以新潮词汇迎合“时尚潮流风”。


千万所大学在迎合,以层出不穷的方式,换来的是新闻热点和知名度,是更多大学的竞相追逐。可这个时代的这些大学,理应培养出未来社会的中流砥柱的大学,真的需要迎合么?


那年那日那时,那位脾气古怪的老学究背手而行,后面的一众学生对他指指点点一通耻笑,原因是在那个新思潮涌动,推崇“不留辫剪短发”的时代,那位学究竟还 留着小辫子。在耻笑中那位学究转过身,拿着自己的辫子义正言辞:“我的辫子长在脑后,诸公的辫子,长在心头。”他叫辜鸿铭,是北大有名的学者之一。


那些学生剪短了的发和“长在心头”的辫子,就仿佛今天大学迎合潮流注重形式的毕业典礼,和浮躁浅薄的本质的对立。毕业典礼是什么,不过是持续不了一天的象征的仪式,不管是迎合复古还是迎合新潮,也仅仅只是给本就浮躁的当今大学生加上了一层错误的引导。


比在毕业典礼上的迎合更重要的,应该是营造一种踏实严谨的学术氛围,让大学生身在其中,学会坚守,学会踏实,成为真正有价值的人才,服务整个社会。


几年前,《百家讲坛》栏目找上鲍鹏山,希望请他上栏目为大家讲课。他当时正忙于一个项目的研究,果断地拒绝了邀请,后来《百家讲坛》另请高明,成就了今天 的易中天。今时今日,鲍鹏山与易中天的社会知名度、收入,或许都不可同日而语。可鲍鹏山的坚守,对于学术的执着,而不一味地迎合,以潮流的形式换取知名 度,不但让他在学术之路上越走越远,还让他赢得更多的尊重。


今天的大学,就应如同鲍鹏山一样,教会学生坚守与踏实。不是打着“复古”的旗号实质上搏取知名和 关注。也不是运用所谓“网络热词”赢得一阵浅薄的笑声与叫好。不是在毕业典礼上的迎合和花嘲,而是从本质上,从每日每年中,培养学生,塑造学生。

Those students' short hair and "growth in the heart" braids are as if today's college graduation ceremony that caters to the trend and pays attention to formality is in opposition to the impetuous and shallow nature. What a graduation ceremony is, it is just a symbolic ceremony that cannot last for a day. Whether it caters to the retro or the trendy, it just adds a layer of wrong guidance to the impetuous college students.


More important than catering at the graduation ceremony should be to create a solid and rigorous academic atmosphere in which college students learn to persevere, learn to be steadfast, become truly valuable talents and serve the entire society.


A few years ago, Bao Pengshan went to the column of "Hundreds of Forums", and I hope he will be invited to give lectures for everyone. He was busy researching a project at the time and decisively refused the invitation. Later, "Hundred Schools Forum" invited Gaoming to make Yi Zhongtian today. Today, Bao Pengshan and Yi Zhongtian’s social popularity and income may not be the same. But Bao Pengshan's perseverance and dedication to academics, instead of blindly catering to, in exchange for popularity in the form of trends, not only allowed him to go further and further on the academic road, but also allowed him to win more respect.


Today's universities should be like Bao Pengshan, teaching students to be persistent and pragmatic. Not under the banner of "retro", to gain popularity and attention in essence. It's not about using the so-called "Internet hot words" to win a burst of superficial laughter and applause. It is not to cater and ridicule at the graduation ceremony, but essentially, from day to year, to train and shape students.
